Our history has roots far back in time, but deep and always vital. In 1934, in Padova, Costante Piovan & Figli opened a high precision mechanics a workshop. In 1964, Piovan introduced the first auxiliary equipment for the processing of polymers to the Italian market. Today, the Piovan Group is a multinational organization. With 7 production facilities, 29 services and sale companies, and a distribution network that covers about 70 countries, the Piovan Group provides service and support to its customers around the world.
In 1934 Costante Piovan & Figli, a workshop specialising in precision mechanics, was founded in Padua. It makes quality, reliability, and partnership its strengths.
These are years of consolidation and reorganisation in an industrial context. The company lays the foundations for a widespread commercial expansion in Europe.
Luigi, Costante's son, guides Piovan to gain a leading role on the market of auxiliary machinery for the plastics industry. In 1964, it produces its first granulator, soon followed by the Convair dryer and Convector feeder for injection moulding machines.
The first refrigeration line, in 1972, and the first central feeding, blending and drying system characterise Piovan’s production in the decade. In 1974 Piovan Germany opens in Garching, near Munich.
Technological innovation, engineering, specialisation in PET, introduction of electronics, partnerships with key OEM, further growth on foreign markets: these are the main keywords of a decade. In 1986, Piovan France opens in Brion. In 1989, the new plant in Santa Maria di Sala (Venezia) was inaugurated, the current headquarters of the group.
In the production sphere, Piovan increases its market share not only in the PET sector but also in other strategic fields like Automotive, Electronics and Textile, while the international organization expands by opening new branches in Canada, Brazil and Asia. A software company is purchased in order to develop remote plant monitoring and control systems.
A close and direct collaboration with customers is the key factor of Nicola Piovan's strategy. New factories are started in Brazil and China, and new branches are opened in Mexico, UK, Austria, Hungary and the Czech Republic, India, Turkey, Thailand and Indonesia. In 2008, Piovan purchases the US company Universal Dynamics, (Una-Dyn) and in 2010 it acquires the majority stake in Fdm, a German company specialising in extrusion technology.
Piovan consolidates its position as a worldwide market leader. At the end of 2014, Penta, a company operating both in the plastics and food industries, joined the Group. In January 2015 Aquatech, a new company, starts its operations in the industrial cooling sector. Energys, an energy services and consulting company for energy efficiency, is founded and also Progema, a company active in the design and production of automation and industrial process control systems, joins the group. New subsidiaries open their doors: Piovan Maghreb in Algeria, Piovan Japan in Kobe, Piovan Gulf in Dubai and Piovan Vietnam in Ho Chi Minh City.
